Jailed rapper YNW Melly was denied emergency dental treatment for an infected tooth under Diamond Grill

A judge denied YNW Melly’s application for release from prison for emergency dental treatment.

According to reports, the rapper/singer YNW Melly applied for an emergency prison pass for a severe toothache last month. YNW Melly, real name Jamell Maurice Demons, claims his diamond-encrusted grill is infected and needs dental work. However, on August 30, the judge denied her request to have her teeth checked.

Apparently, the 23-year-old artist’s full set of diamond dental crowns require constant maintenance. However, Melly alleged that the prison failed to provide him with a simple toothbrush, dental floss or regular visits to the dentist while he was incarcerated. As a result, he developed a painful abscess in his lower jaw which he believes is the source of his chronic infection.

Melly claims he has private insurance and that his legal team would have offered to pay for the treatment, which would have included his own transport and independent security. But, the judge ultimately decided it was in the best interests of the court to keep him behind bars.

As you may already know, YNW Melly is accused of killing his two rapper friends YNW Juvy (Chris Thomas, 20) and YNW Sakchaser (Anthony Williams, 21) on October 26, 2018. In February 2019, YNW Melly and YNW member Cortlen “YNW Bortlen” Henry were arrested and charged with first degree murder. Both had been charged with the murder Juvy and Sakchaser in 2018, then pretending that the two men had been victims of a drive-by shooting.

Reports indicate that authorities have determined Melly shot the two men while they were inside a vehicle and a co-accused Cortlen “YNW Bortlen” Henry staged the crime to appear to be a drive-by shooting. The “Murder on My Mind” rapper has remained locked up since his arrest, despite numerous attempts to bail him out. Bortlen was released on bail in 2020. However, was arrested again in April 2021 for a probation violation.

As stated earlier, Melly initially faced the death penalty for his upcoming double murder trial, but the judge decided to drop the sentence in July during a preliminary hearing. However, the rapper could potentially spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted.
